Terms of use

Last updated 17 October 2026

These terms apply to the Terndesk desktop email app and this website. "We" means Terndesk, the publisher of the app. By installing or using Terndesk, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

The app

Terndesk is an email client that runs on your computer. It connects directly to your Google account and to any other mail accounts you add, and stores your mail on your computer. We don't operate a server and never receive your mail. How the app handles your data is described in the privacy policy.

Licence

Terndesk is paid software: to use it you need a licence key, which you buy from us. The price, what a key covers and any trial or refund terms are shown where you buy it, and they apply together with these terms.

A licence key gives the person or organisation it was issued to a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the released builds of Terndesk on computers they own or control. Please don't share, publish or resell a licence key, and don't redistribute, sell or modify the released builds. All other rights are reserved.

Your accounts and your responsibilities

  • You're responsible for the accounts you connect and for what you send from them. Using Terndesk with Gmail is also subject to Google's terms, and with other mail services, to their terms.
  • Don't use Terndesk to send spam, to break the law, or to access accounts you aren't allowed to use.
  • If you turn on a cloud AI provider, you use it under your own account and agreement with that provider, and you're responsible for any charges it makes.
  • Your mail is stored on your computer. Keep your computer secure, and keep backups of anything you can't afford to lose; your mail itself stays in your mail account.

No warranty

Terndesk is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Email software can fail: messages can be delayed, sent late, or not sent, and AI features can produce wrong text. Check what matters before you rely on it.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, messages, profits or business, arising from your use of Terndesk. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited by contract.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top when we do, and describe significant changes in the release notes. Continuing to use Terndesk after a change means you accept the new terms.
