Your mail stays on your computer.
No Terndesk server ever sees your mail. Terndesk connects straight from your computer to Google or to your own mail provider, keeps what it downloads on your computer, and keeps your sign-ins in your system's secure credential store. The privacy policy lists exactly what it reads from your Google account and why.
- Tracking pixels blocked
- Remote images stay off until you allow a sender, so newsletters can't tell when you opened them.
- No telemetry
- No analytics, crash reporting or usage pings.
- No account with us
- There's nothing to sign up for. A licence key is all Terndesk needs from you.
What sits on your computer, and what leaves it.
Four things live on your computer. Three kinds of connection leave it, and only the first is needed to read mail.
- TerndeskThe app, which keeps your mail up to date and your reminders on time while it runs.
- Your mailYour messages, drafts and settings, stored on your own computer.
- Your sign-insKept in your system's secure credential store.
- A local AI model, if you want AIRunning on your own computer. Optional.
Leaves the computer
- Your mail provider alwaysGoogle, or your own provider's mail servers, over encrypted connections.
- A cloud AI provider optionalOnly if you choose one, under your own account, and agree to send it email text.
- Terndesk's licence service licenceWhen you activate or remove a licence: the key and an identifier for the computer. Nothing from your mailbox.
What it changes in your mailbox.
Your mailbox stays the source of truth. Beyond mirroring what you do, Terndesk adds three things, each only if you use the feature.
- What you do
- Done, read, starred, labels and folders stay in step both ways between the app and your mailbox.
- Snoozed mail
- Leaves your inbox on your mail server too, under a label or folder of its own.
- Settings backup
- Kept in your own mailbox, only if you turn it on.
- Rules as Gmail filters
- Creates Gmail filters only if you let it, and only ever deletes the ones it made.
